argument with bill clinton. he worked awfully hard to get president obama re-elected. he was tireless on the campaign trail. but we're almost at the point where every sound bite counts. what role could bill clinton play at this point, moving forward after trying to mop up what was said in that interview? >> well, actually, isn't it interesting how the sort of -- that whole narrative of people losing their insurance has died away has the web site has come back and 1 million people or so a day can visit the website and see what's available. i do think a large part of the effort now has to be try to drive people to take a look at what's on the website. for them to look at what the options are. and to see how much of a subsidy they're going to get. and so what the final price of insurance will be for them. getting the enrollment up into the tens of thousands per day is going to be the critical issue going forward. >> what president clinton was talking about was junk insurance. but it doesn't seem like anybody wants to use the term "junk insurance." why is that? i mean, isn't it time to ki

. name someone who was able to do it. it alluded past presidents. bill clinton gave it a shot and wasn't able to do it. to go back to this idea how the president had to cobble together the ideas that made up the law and the votes to pass it, what's so striking about what he's doing today, hat the white house is trying to unveil as something new this idea of trying to sell the benefits of the law. this is a law that passed in 2010 and they are still finding they have to go out and explain to people what is good about it. things like keeping young people on their parents' insurance until age 26. get people with pre-existing coverage. this something they have been trying to do for several years. if that message hasn't stuck then you wonder if they can get the poll numbers for both the president and this law up. >> john meacham. >> the conundrum is that when government works historically in american life it's because there's a universal benefit, at least for a given group. that is, it's not reform. it's an additional part. so you have social security, which was a universal benefit. medicar

president bill clinton will also plan to attend. we go live to johannesburg. robin, mandela's funeral will be held on sunday. family, dignitaries, they're all coming together. logistically that is going to be incredible. >> reporter: absolutely. i mean, this really is one of the biggest events we're seeing in recent history. and it's three days into a ten-day mourning period. sunday we're going to see more prayers being wrereconciliation memorials. the south african government is encouraging heads of state to come to this memorial in johannesburg than it is to get into the small remote town of gunu, the remote island where he will be buried. so all in all quite a busy schedule for south africans. also quite geographically spread out. gives chance for this whole country, people in different areas to be able to join in the memorials and pay their respects to nelson mandela. >> the man who brought south africa into the modern day. robyn, thank you so much. >> there's a statue of mandela in central london where mourners gathered in recent days. senior international correspondent matthew c

bill clinton played the saxophone on the arsenio hall show. it ended when "the jefferysons" moved on up. racism ended when willis was adopted by richard drummond and racism ended when the iphone was available in black and white. the slip was more than fodder for jokes. it's also why the gop and modern right go to create the santa clausification of rosa parks and martin luther king jr. and other civil rights leaders. they are cast as figures with no history or context, just celebrated as the good guys who fought the forces of evil. consider the 2005 eulogy for parks from bill frist, flagged today. frisk said it was "not an intentional attempt to change a nation but a singular act aimed at restoring the dignity of the individual." and that gets it exactly wrong. rosa parks was an actual human being who was embedded in a whole bunch of institutions and organizations that were very much trying to change the nation. she was part of not just the liberal left, but the radical left. she trained at the highlander folk school in tennessitennesse legendary leftist training guard regarded as a comm
